Behind the old railway station complex, which houses the Wolferskopf Nature Reserve Information Centre, the path climbs 200 metres in altitude to the Fischerberghaus. Old bunkers stand by the side of the path. Along the way, you’ll come across an old limestone quarry with a lime kiln. From the terrace of the Fischerberghaus, high above the Saar, there is a magnificent view of the Saar Valley. The four-way junction is the highest point of the walk. The view is breathtaking: the Saar Valley stretches out before you, with the Lorraine Escarpment, the Litermont, the Wahlener Platte, the Black Forest highlands, the Schaumberg, the Siersburg, Ensdorf and Dillingen visible beyond. The emblem of the Wolferskopf nature reserve is an extremely rare grasshopper: the wart-biting grasshopper. Numerous different plant species grow in the nature reserve, including various orchid species, the yellow asparagus bean and the fringed gentian. The descent follows the historic 1778 border between the Kingdom of France and the Electorate of Trier. Imposing sandstone blocks marking the border serve as a reminder of that era.
In Haustadt, visitors can explore a restored Westwall bunker. The route leads back to Beckingen through the Kondelerbach valley. Following the old arm of the Saar, you reach the River Saar and, shortly afterwards, the Saar-Garten-Beckingen. An open-plan park has been created over an area of 32,000 square metres.
The trail has been awarded 63 ‘adventure points’ by the German Hiking Institute.

Directions
We set off from the ‘Historic Beckingen Railway Station’, which has been converted into an information centre for the Wolferskopf Nature Reserve and the Beckingen local authority’s tourist information office, and which is open to visitors on weekdays from 9.00 am. From here, we head to the platform for trains bound for Saarbrücken. On the side facing Trier, directly to the right of the old goods station, is the entrance to the ‘Beckinger SaarBlicke’ scenic loop. Behind it, the steep climb begins via steps leading to several former Westwall bunkers and onto a gravel path, which we follow to the right. After a few metres, we pass through a gorge, which we cross at the top via wooden steps. Here we come to another bunker and turn left, walking slightly uphill along a woodchip path until we reach a tarmac path, which we follow uphill for about 150 metres. We then turn right onto a two-lane concrete path, which we follow to the end. There, we turn left along a meadow path up the slope to a restored lime kiln. We now walk past the former limestone quarry and arrive at the sleeping quarters of the Fischerberghütte.
We walk past this, cross the car park and continue downhill along the forest path. We follow the path, which is marked off by a tape, to its end and then turn right, continuing down towards the valley. After 50 metres, we turn left onto a dirt track, which we follow uphill and then along level ground, past a sensory bench. We reach the highest point of the walk. Here there is a table with a set of benches, where we can rest and recover from the exertions of the 3 kilometres we have already covered. We now follow the path downhill and, via the boundary stone path, reach a sensory bench. This is where the two Taum loops, ‘Biezerberger’ and ‘Beckinger SaarBlicke’, part ways. We leave the gravel path at the sensory bench and walk down towards the woods through a gorge until we reach the first houses of Haustadt. There, we turn right and, after a short climb, head back downhill onto a road, which we follow to the right. After a few metres, we follow a path to the left which is flat at first, then descends past the ‘Albert’ bunker to the main road between Beckingen and Haustadt. Passing through the gateway, we cross the road, walk a few metres towards Beckingen and turn left. We pass through a wrought-iron gate, cross the floodplain of the Mühlenbach stream and arrive at the works yard or clubhouse of the Technisches Hilfwerk.
We now cross the Beckingen–Düppenweiler road and follow the forest path uphill on the left, arriving at the Beckingen ‘Bildchen’.From here, the route takes us downhill along paths and tracks down to the Kondlerbach valley, which we follow straight ahead until we reach the road linking Beckingen and Dillingen. Opposite the Felsmühle inn, the path leads along a fence to the junction with the railway underpass, where we reach the ponds of the Beckingen Angling Club. We follow the old arm of the Saar to the left, come to a sensory bench and walk along the path beside the pond. At the confluence with the Kondlerbach, we come across the Saar cycle path. We follow the cycle path to the right for about 400 metres, passing under the Rehlinger Bridge, walking past the boat landing stage and reaching the entrance to the Saargarten. We follow this footpath to a sensory bench and turn sharply right here. We stay on this path until the underpass, go under it and turn left at the bend. After a few metres, we reach a new bridge leading over the Mühlenbach. We cross this bridge and walk upstream along a woodchip path until we reach a concrete staircase with an archway.
This brings us back to the station, where we have reached our destination.

As a general rule, you enter the forest and walk along the footpaths at your own risk!
Depending on the season and weather conditions, certain sections of the trails may require extra care when walking.
