The Moselle flows through one of the most beautiful cultural landscapes in Europe. Countless witnesses to more than 2000 years of history, forests, vineyards, wonderful villages and, of course, wine characterise the landscape and its people. And it is the Moselsteig Trail that today creates a unique link between all of this. Those who embark on this quality hiking trail can look forward to an unusually multi-layered experience. Its sheer length of 365 kilometres is impressive in itself. This makes the Moselsteig Trail one of the longest long-distance hiking trails in Germany.

Wegbeschreibung
On the first stage from Perl to Sinz or Palzem, you can expect narrow paths and many viewpoints with views of the Moselle valley and the borderless border triangle. In addition to the panoramic views, the Franco-German nature reserve on the Hammelsberg with its sun-drenched slopes is a first highlight along the way. From mid-May to mid-June, a variety of orchid species bloom here in bright colours and thousands of butterflies flutter lightly through the meadows. Several information boards reveal interesting facts about the flora and fauna. A short time later, the Moselsteig Trail passes a barefoot path with benches that invite you to take a break. Later, the path leads through shady forests to Wochern. The small village is home to many lovingly restored houses. You can relax in the small village square while listening to the babbling of the village stream. On the way north, the Moselsteig Trail passes a collapse doline, the origins of which are explained along the way. In Sinz, there are two catering establishments where you can take a break or stay overnight. Shortly after Sinz, the trail leads through brightly coloured fields and takes you unnoticed across the border into Rhineland-Palatinate. After crossing a stream, you reach Palzem.
