Health promotion and prevention have long been important concerns of the district of Merzig-Wadern. The focus is on "health for all".

is the focus here. Many different offers have been successfully implemented in the district for years by the district administration and the administrations of the individual municipalities, by associations, interest groups, institutions, organisations, companies in the healthcare sector, doctors and hospitals.

By establishing a cross-sector and cross-actor network for prevention and health promotion and expanding sustainable health-promoting structures, the aim is to provide all people in the district with a health-promoting environment and a health-orientated lifestyle.

The "Health and Prevention District of Merzig-Wadern" project office was set up to realise this project.

The goals:
- To develop and establish health-promoting structures in the district
- To improve the health of citizens
- Make existing structures more visible and support them
- Addressing needs and implementing new measures
- Increase health equality of opportunity

The tasks:
- Networking with all relevant stakeholders (cross-sectoral in the municipal structures, cross-institutional / cross-organisational, municipal-voluntary-professional)
- Support and development of health-promoting measures (behavioural and situational prevention) in selected fields of action and for selected target groups
- Communication and public relations work
- Support in the acquisition of funding

The project office is supported by GKV Bündnis für Gesundheit.
