Joylife houseboats on the Saar
Relax - discover - experience - dream - unwind - savoir vivre
With a Joylife houseboat on the water, you can choose your neighbours without a licence and experience the charm of nature with your "holiday home on the water". Time spent on a Joylife houseboat will help you to relax, recharge your batteries for everyday life and unwind. Cultivate and enjoy company as a couple, as a family or with friends. This holiday on the water offers you all the comforts of a fixed and detached holiday home. - And at the same time, you can enjoy romantic water walks, joyful bathing fun, wonderful shore excursions, unique cultural and culinary experiences and much more...
If you want to experience the Saarland, its unique nature, its impressive cultural heritage and the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, there is hardly a better way to do this than from the river. Bring enough time with you. With the electric-powered houseboat on the Saar, all this and much more is possible - and you don't even need a driving licence. Because the Saar connects. Not only the people, but also the countries of France and Germany and the federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. It begins its course in Alsace, initially divided into the White and Red Saar, and after exactly 246 kilometres, after small and large loops, sometimes canalised, sometimes "Ã la nature", it joins the Moselle at Konz.
From Mettlach off on holiday on the water
You can start your voyage of discovery from our base station in Mettlach on the Saar. The ceramics town of Mettlach is characterised by the Villeroy & Boch company and invites you to go ashore and then go porcelain shopping with the "Keravision". Your trip on the Saar by houseboat can then take you downstream to Saarburg, which was first mentioned in 964 AD and is a beautiful historic wine town.
Or you can head upstream towards the Saarland's most famous river bend, the Saar Loop near Orscholz, with Saarbrücken as your destination. Many cosy places to linger, adventure forest, treetop path and much more await you along the way, as well as extraordinary sights such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte.
If your journey takes you to Saarbrücken, you will experience the relaxed French way of life in the centre of a big city. Here, the chefs will bring the stars out of the sky for you and the smell of croissants and crème brûlée fills the air. Relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and drink, strolling or shopping. Places of pleasure such as the St. Johanner Markt, the castle and the Staden await you, as do starred restaurants, manufactories, courtyards and beer gardens. You can also immerse yourself in culture and urban art: the new Art Walk spans a colourful arc from the baroque palace complex to Saarbrücken's cultural mile with the state theatre, music academy and modern gallery to the lively Nauwieser district. The motto everywhere is: Vive le Genuss, vive Saarbrücken!
