E-bike tour Saar-Wald encounter

The route starts at the Saargarten in Beckingen. This park, located directly on the river, is part of the international "Gardens without Borders" project and is particularly worth a visit for families with its play equipment and neighbouring football golf course. The route then leads through Beckingen into the Haustadt valley with its wooded heights. At Hargarten, the route climbs the Merching shell limestone plateau and then leads over hill and dale to Losheim with its reservoir of the same name. Here, numerous leisure facilities by the water and the lakeside garden with bistro and mini golf course are well worth a longer break. A detour into the town allows you to visit the railway museum. The E-bike route continues through a longer forest passage and reaches the Saar valley again at Mettlach. Here the ride can be interrupted for a visit to the ceramics adventure worlds and the Villeroy & Boch factory outlet. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre of St Lutwinus and the Old Abbey with its old tower and park are also worth a visit. The Mettlach Abbey Brewery invites you to stop for a bite to eat. Excursion boats are available for round trips on the banks of the Saar.

The e-bike route now follows the Saar upstream and leads through the famous and impressive Saar Loop. Here, further culinary highlights of the Saarschleifenland await with the Saarschleifenlodge and the gourmet station at the Welles ferry. The route continues along the Saar through Dreisbach towards the historic town of Merzig. The old town with its town park and St Peter's Church is well worth a stop, as is the marina with its leisure and health spa "DAS BAD" and brewery. Continuing along the Saar, the trail crosses the river at the Rehlingen-Beckingen lock and leads a short distance back downstream to the starting point at the Saargarten in Beckingen.
