The Viezstraße is a special kind of holiday route. It runs over the Saargau, a ridge between the Saar and the Moselle on the border with France and Luxembourg, past numerous meadow orchards. The 175 km long Viezstraße leads from Merzig and Saarlouis in the south via the Saarburger Land to Trier in the north. It is lined with a dense network of cycling and hiking trails. Numerous sights make the route a real discovery tour.

Viez, as apple wine is called in the Saar-Moselle region, juices, fruit spreads, liqueurs, secco, cider or high-quality spirits offer enjoyment and variety. The tasty products are offered in the tasting rooms and farm shops of the producers or in the inns and hotels along the route. They are excellent advertising media for the orchards that characterize the landscape on Viezstraße.

Im Jahr 2014 hat das Ministerium der Justiz und für Europa BW gemeinsam mit TourCert innerhalb eines Pilotsprojekts die Zertifizierung für Destinationen entwickelt. Entstanden ist die Auszeichnung "Nachhaltiges Reiseziel", welche Destinationen und die touristischen Anbieter im deutschsprachigen Raum als Ganzes betrachtet. Das Label mit "dem grünen N" gilt für "Nachhaltige Reiseziele" in Deutschland. Dabei spielen vor allem Parameter wie die Qualität der Produkte und Dienstleitungen oder der schonende Umgang mit Ressourcen eine sehr goße Rolle.

Die Nette Toilette ist eine Service Aktion, die Menschen in Städten den Zugang zu sauberen Toiletten ermöglicht. Dafür erwerben die Städte die entsprechende Lizenz, die zur Nutzung des Konzepts und der App autorisiert. Ansässigen Gastronomen und Händler stellen gegen eine monatliche Entschädigung von Seiten der Stadt ihre Toiletten zur Verfügung.

Das Konzept "Die nette Toilette" bietet eine einzigartige Lösung, von der alle Beteiligten profitieren. Teilnehmende Gastronomen stellen ihre Toiletten kostenfrei für Gäste zur Verfügung, unabhängig davon, ob diese bei ihnen etwas verzehren oder nicht. Die Bürger erhalten ein flächendeckendes Netz an frei zugänglichen Toiletten. Die App zeigt die Ausstattung der Toilette an und bietet eine Navigation vom jeweiligen Standort zur ausgewählten Toilette.

Green Key is a voluntary eco-certification program and the leading standard for excellence in environmental responsibility
and sustainable management in the tourism industry. The high sustainability standards expected of Green Key certified
businesses are ensured through a strict catalogue of criteria, rigorous documentation, frequent on-site audits and third-party
verification. Green Key can be used by hotels, hostels, small accommodations, campsites, holiday parks, conference center’s,
restaurants and attractions. The Green Key program is administered by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE)
and its national member organizations.

Green Globe is an international certification with a seal of quality for the travel and tourism industry with three award levels
