Well, it's not quite that high up on the Gipsberg
not. Nevertheless, nowhere do I like to indulge in one of my favourite pastimes more than here
favourite leisure activity, hiking. Admittedly, for hiking -
or more modern: walking - most people prefer to go to the Saar or across
the Wolfsweg up to the Ell. But my favourite remains the "Plaster
Mountain", as I once called the second prominent elevation in Merzig in the
jokingly called it. The advantage: because only a few people get lost here,
you usually have peace and quiet and can enjoy nature. Several
forest paths lead from Merzig to Merchingen and beyond. One
It's not easy for me to choose a single place as my favourite.
No matter where you go up here, there is always a marvellous view.
panorama. My favourite spot is a bench at the edge of the path at the top of the
mountain, where the terrain is almost completely flat. It looks a little North German
here, especially when it's windy and not so hot. With a
view over the fields, you can forget summer for a moment.
