The wayside shrine can be reached on foot via a well-maintained forest path on the road "Zum Leukbachtal/Ecke Zum Bildstock" in Orscholz. The Way of the Cross, which was created four years ago by the Catholic women's community of St Elisabeth Orscholz, also begins at the edge of the forest, where regular prayer meetings are held.
The idea for the Stations of the Cross came about during a hike by the board members in autumn 2014, when the specially established Stations of the Cross team chose the barrier-free forest path to the Marienkapelle chapel in Leukbachtal - which has been a focal point for believers for decades. Boulders from the neighbouring woods were chosen as the basis for the individual stations, which were cleaned by the team and finally provided with the 14 stations by a stonemason. The Way of the Cross was finally blessed on Assumption Day 2015 and the 15th station - the "Stone of Resurrection and Eternal Life" - was added the following year.
