SZ -Aktion-Mein-Lieblingsplatz - Lutwinuskapelle - a place of peace with a panoramic view
One of them is Friedrich Albermann from Merzig. He writes about his contribution: "If you take a walk through the park of Saareck Castle in Mettlach-Keuchingen, you will reach the Lutwinus Chapel, which is located on a hill right next to the Saar, after about 30 minutes." According to him, the chapel was built in 1892 by Eugen von Boch and his wife Oktavie, née Villeroy, to mark their 50th wedding anniversary. "From this spot, you have a beautiful view up and down the river - a wonderful place for rest and relaxation," says Friedrich Albermann.
Johanna Fell from Merzig is also very fond of this place, as she writes. Thanks to its exposed location "on a rock high above the Saar with a marvellous view of the Saar and Mettlach", the sacred building, which was built in 1892, is impressive. The chapel, which according to Johanna Fell is very popular with hikers and pilgrims, "invites you to pause for a moment".
