In the attractively designed entrance area of ​​the park there is a spacious fairground. Visitors are guided through the gardens in "lush waves" that are expressed both by the curved paths and by the layout of meadows and planting fields. The park invites walkers to stroll and linger with a "view of the Saar". Spacious representative grass and shrub areas alternate with quiet flat and gently rolling meadow areas. Representative trees line paths and create spaces in conjunction with hornbeam hedges. In addition to a playground with a lighthouse and pirate ship, the park has numerous sculptures by various artists, resting places made of natural stone and picnic areas for families.

Art in the garden

A symposium was also held as part of the Skulptura Beckingen 2010 with 16 artists from seven countries. Eight sculptors were invited to document their thoughts and ideas on the themes of "together" and/or "traveling - arriving" in drawings, models and descriptions.

Models were transformed into objects weighing tons - sculptures that are waiting to be discovered and interpreted in the "SaarGarten" sculpture park.

From nine submitted works, the jury selected five models, which the artists then implemented during the Skulptura in the "Saar-Garten" sculpture park. Guy Charlier (France), Gisela Milse (Germany), Angelika Summa (Germany), Peter Heesch (Germany) and Laura Danzi (Italy) took part in the symposium. Other artists who exhibited their works during the 2010 Skulptura Beckingen included Manon Bertrand (Luxembourg), Dao Droste (Vietnam), Sylva Hanuise (Belgium), Livia Kubach and Michael Kropp (Germany), Mathias Nikolaus (Germany), Alfons Peters (Germany), Eugenio Riotto (Italy), Marie-Josée Kerschen (Luxembourg), Anne-Marie Klenes (Belgium), Bruno Sutter (Switzerland) and Frank Teufel (Germany).

Saargarten 2.0 - from 2025

From 2025, the garden will be extensively expanded and upgraded thanks to financial support from the Saarland Tourism Promotion Agency. An even more extensive range of play areas for children and toddlers will further increase the attractiveness for families and children.

Visitors who enjoy exercise can also look forward to a wide range of activities in the large sports park with a calisthenics facility and obstacle course.

Adult swings, numerous sunbeds and seating areas, a fountain and a Saar (water)fall will also make the Saargarten a new place of relaxation, ease and lifestyle. Modern catering containers and possible pop-up stores will meet the gastronomic demand and organize new exciting events to pamper visitors. In addition, the theater arena and the theater platform will also offer the opportunity to bring contemporary art and culture to life for guests. Whether it's a reading or a concert, cultural diversity will also be offered here in the future.
