From Hellendorf, we walk through rustic forests and passages with very beautiful views towards Tünsdorf. The route mostly follows paths past streams and a very idyllic forest pond with a bench for resting the senses. Shortly before Tünsdorf, we have to overcome 50 meters of altitude to be rewarded with a magnificent view. After that, we cross an open, agricultural landscape with wide views.

We have reached Orscholz at the “Orkelsfels” natural monument. The route passes the edge of the town to the “Cloef-Atrium” with tourist information, gastronomy and exhibitions. From there it is another 500 meters to the famous panoramic view of the Saarschleife. We now descend slowly, repeatedly interrupted by magnificent views of the narrow valley of the Saarschleife, along spectacular paths, to our stage destination in Mettlach. There are numerous attractions and a wide selection of restaurants. Boat trips into the Saarschleife are offered from Mettlach.

The Saar-Hunsrück Climb is a natural trail, with 70% of the route leading over soft forest floors, grassy paths or along streams. However, this special quality can also lead to problems after long periods of rain, making parts of the trail difficult to walk on. That is why sturdy shoes are highly recommended.
