We enjoy the tranquillity and atmosphere of the Saarschleife, the Saarland's landmark. Life along the river is colourful, as mallards, great crested grebes and kingfishers can often be seen. The Saar flows leisurely through the narrow valley with its steep slopes covered in primeval forest. Only when a ship crosses our path can waves cause our canoe to rock.
